One opponent, cut four ways

Everybody gets the head to head: every meeting with one player, match by match, free. Plus cuts that same series by the court it was played on, by year, over recent periods, and through what both rally logs say. €3.99 a month.

The same series, by surface, by year, by period, and rally by rally.

What everybody already gets

The head to head between you and any player you have both recorded a match against is free, and always has been: every meeting, the score of each, who won, when, and the running total. Subscribing adds to that page and takes nothing out of it.

So you can always see the rivalry. What Plus adds is four extra cuts of it, for €3.99 a month, and how much they show depends entirely on how the matches were recorded.

By the court it was played on

A court on SetMatcher can carry one of thirteen surfaces, and a match acquires one when an organiser puts it on a named court. Split a rivalry by surface and a pattern the total hides often appears: the same two players are frequently not the same two players on clay and on a hard court.

The honest part of this cut is what it admits. A surface is only recorded where an organiser put the match on a named court, which most social matches never are, so most meetings sit under "not recorded". That row is shown rather than dropped, and the lines always add up to the whole series.

Over time

The same series by year, over the recent windows, and period by period. A rivalry that was six to four in your favour five years ago and one to five since is not a rivalry you lead, and the single total says that you do.

Each cut is the same set of matches counted differently, never a different set, so no two readings of one rivalry can disagree about how many meetings there were.

What both rally logs say

Where the meetings were scored point by point, the rivalry also carries the match statistics of both sides side by side: who won more on serve, who took the pressure points, who held the longer runs.

It is the same engine the match statistics page describes, pointed at two players instead of one. Meetings entered as a final score contribute their result and nothing else, and the page says how many of the meetings it was able to read.
